Dawn in Warsaw from the Babka Towers -taken by the Amazing Yankel
I often wonder how people think about me, how they judge me (not judge in the negative sense, but in general) . . .
I think we very rarely truly see a person . . . for who he is.
Did you ever look at someone, then do a double take and find them to somehow look different . . . sometimes very different.
Though I can offer no scientific explanation, I'd say that the change is due to our mental rounding-out of the things we see. Just like the letters we read, after enough reading we no longer have to actually say or think every letter, but rather each group of letters, i.e. each word, is taken in as whole -a complete idea.
So too when we look at others, we no longer taken in every detail of their faces, but rather rely on our mental image.
Suddenly though, at times, we actually look at the person's face . . .
and then we realize that he doesn't look quite the way we thought.
How often do we think of others as who they are instead of how we have pictured them based on our earlier mental image . . .

This is a wonderful blog.
I enjoy the thougth of our mental image of a person. It is like first impression. Say when you comment to someone on their blog for the first time, they are always going to think about the context of the first comment left.
hey did you say they called babke?? (as in the cake)
Y Adler wants to know if he in fact took that photo?
p.s. get yourself some free votes by using your cell phone to vote for yourself (or ask friends to vote from teir cells for you)
Perez, I'm glad you like it. Your first comment certainly worked then!
Yoss! It's called Babka as in a grandmother -I think, but Yankel would know better then I would. As well, he knows who took the pic, as mentioned several times in the past (I believe this is the third time I've put it up) As well, he can comment himself.
I can't even vote on my cell, let alone cheat! But perhaps every guy in Bal Harbor smicha who wishes to help the cause could do so.
great pic!
Its funny that u said that abt seeing ppl diffrently... there are times when reality is so different from how i've pictured a person in my own mind, that i have this weird fear of not recognizing them anymore...cuz suddenly they look so different to me.
Nice Shot Mottel
It is due to my oversight that this picture has not been credited to the photographer . . .
As Yossi mentioned, it was taken by the Amazing Yankel on our first morning in Warsaw. I took a similar shot, but when my computer went on me last year, so did the picture.
I would say of Yankel's pictures that he tends to pull back more, taking in a wider shot . . . Good Job.
why cant you vote on your phone? dont you have the treo 700p?
(tip: make sure you preference is set to wide page mode in the options drop-down menu)
Thanks
In an artistic sense, the most captivating face is the one that holds many angles. People in the lime light always asked to be shot from their best side. The question might be asked, why is one side better then the other... when in truth all side of a face are needed to complete the picture.
