Sadly in our day and age we have experienced trench-coat clad youth going on a rampage . . . in the past video games, movies and the like were blamed . . .
Could CNN be implying something more insidious, that perhaps his actions are somehow tied into the trauma of being an oppressed Muslim? Had he been of any other background I doubt it would have been as stressed.
I smell a rat.

Bosnia (Reuters) -- The 18-year-old gunman who shot five people to death in a Salt Lake City, Utah, shopping mall was a survivor of the siege that ended in the Srebrenica massacre of 8,000 Muslims in Bosnia's 1992-95 war, a cousin said on Wednesday.Would somebody mind telling me why it's relevant that Talovic was a survivor of the massacre? So much so, in fact, that it's been repeated twice in the article, and within the length of only two paragraphs!
Sulejman Talovic, who was killed by police after Monday's shooting spree in which he also wounded four people, fled his village with his family during the Bosnia war to Srebrenica, a U.N.-protected enclave, Redzo Talovic said.
They spent two years in the town, during which Bosnian Serb forces besieged the enclave and Talovic's grandfather was killed by shellfire, Redzo Talovic said.
When the Bosnian Serbs overran the town in 1995, taking away and massacring some 8,000 Muslim men and boys, Talovic and his mother were evacuated by the United Nations and later reunited with his father, Redzo Talovic said . . ."

wouldn't you think someone who experienced violence for themselves and how unpleasant it was would be less inclined to subject others to the same thing..

People are affected by the world around them . . .
I don't think it's anything to do with being an "oppressed Muslim," but it seems very likely that post-traumatic stress disorder is a reasonable description of his state of mind.
Of course no one in their right mind would do something like this after experiencing the suffering he did. I think it's the suffering he went through that caused his mind to snap.
Read the descriptions what his short life was really like, and just try to imagine yourself in those situations. I'm not surprised his mind just broke into pieces one day. It's a tragedy for everyone.
I don't think that it was due to being an oppressed Muslim either . . .
What I due suspect though is that CNN was trying to hint that, why else would they repeat the fact that he was the Muslim survivor of the massacre twice?
The backlash against Muslims and Islamics will be horrific. We should implore the moderate Muslim Islamics to reform the faith/sects. Else the self preservation of American society will exclude all Muslims and Islamic adherents.

Anon 2: I doubt that this event is tied radical Islam . . . More so it serves to our disadvantage to say that there is a connection -for it causes C.A.R.E (or however it's writen) to cry out and makes us the boy who cried wolf when real problems come up.

Anon 3: I'm not doubting the trauma he encountered, nor, however, do I think that anyone would venerate him because of the stress . . . I only question why CNN twice must state that he is Muslim survivor.

He left before the so called massacre(that they can find no evidence of) occured. Maybe his trauma was due to the fact that his father was a member of the mujahadeen army who killed hundreds of thousands of Christian Serbs!
I went to school with Sulejman and he was a very nice person, very quiet and shy he was the sweetest kid ever. I don't know what could have happened for him to do this but I think if nothing he was a victim too. I remember how people used to make fun of him in school and shit like that just because he was from another country. I guess he just reached a point where he couldn't take it anymore and did what he did. I really think if America wants to stop this kind of shootings in schools and malls they better start paying attention on how they raise their kids and stop the bulling in schools. American teenagers and kids need to understand that is not funny and is not ok to make fun of children from other countries. because first of all it was not the kid's decision to come to America they were brought here by their parents.
