I saw this clip last night and found it to be unbelievably sad. Seeing the palpable effects of assimilation and intermarriage is tragic.
I'm sure Ms. Paltrow is a lovely person. But to think what became of her forbearer's hopes dreams and prayers . ..

Wow. When did the family marry out? Did they say in the episode?
So sad. She'll probably take up kabbalah now ...
Didn't watch the whole thing - just a few clips. But it was her father who married out.
