This afternoon I went to Manhattan to do some Mivtzoyim by the Salute to Israel March . . .
Click on the link to see pictures from the Parade and my walk through Central Park afterwards
By the parade . . .
Unfortunately (or rather quite fortunately) due to the mivtzoyim I don't have any pictures of the event . . . The Jews on motorcycles were the best part.
Afterwards C. and I went over to Avi and David's -a bagel joint that's open 24 hours (giving no excuse to not stop over at some point) . . . I recommend the pancakes.
The place was packed, so taking our orders to go, we went to Central Park.
Where by a rather odd drum circle we met Gordon . . .
. . . and put tefillin on him for the first time in his life.

Wow . . . Thanks!
(Do I know you by any chance -Anonymous is such a ubiquitous name :p )

So nice! Great work, great photos, great job!
photos like these give me major NY withdrawal symptoms
Nope, you don't know me. I was just really inspired - I try to do mivtzoyim, but I find it really really hard. For some reason, it's so much easier to give out candles in Israel than here. I know I should try harder... your pics help with that encouragement.
-ME: Thanks
-Joshua: So come back . . . :-)
-Anon: I'm glad you were able to find inspiration . . . Just keep at it, every place has its challenges. I find that if you through yourself in there it gets easier. (Though NY is much tougher then the laid back West Coast)
Did you get a new personal photographer?
Is "C" the best you can come up with!? I don't visit your blog enough so that's my punishment!?
Just kidding.
I wouldn't call the awesome uplifting dancing "odd". I still feel the vibe...
-Sef: yes 'C' took them.
-C "anon" The drumming was great, but come on, some of the people there (then again we were there . . . )
Back in my better days I was the king of Mivtzoim at these massive outdoor events. You get people putting on Tefillin one after another and even with all the refusals, you still know that there's more where that came from. Was always so busy that I had to just sling the Tefillin around my neck between people (yeh, yeh, I know it's wrong).
Of course I never wore a hat and jacket when I did this kind of Mivtza.
