What is the history of this painting?
hey.. my family stems from samarkand. not into this pic as much as the one below it. post others.
Cali: It's a photo that's been colorized, not a painting. I found it on Google Photo, where I find most of the stuff I put up here.

It's not a colorized photo, it is an original color photo. Prokudin-Gorskii used filters and mirrors to produce three negatives for each color channel. Just Google for his name and you'll find the entire collection at the US Library of Congress (loc.gov).
I stand corrected, though the Website on which I had found it had said that it was colorized . . .
Having seen more of his work, as well as how he did it brings out far greater meaning to the image though.
